Goals
This training aims to empower participants to build capacity in mitigating stress injury, and to feel equipped to support others in their workplace. Participants will increase awareness of their own stress levels, how stress manifests for them, and what they can do to mitigate it. Specific tools and strategies to enhance social support and connection will be offered.
Objectives
- Participants will engage in self-awareness of stress injury symptoms.
- Participants will practice tools to increase confidence in managing stress levels throughout the day.
- Participants will be able to identify symptoms of distress amongst their peers or colleagues.
- Participants will learn proactive communication skills to help peers name strengths, resources, and follow up action steps.
- Participants will identify areas to enhance social connection at work.
Description
In this 4-hour, live, interactive training led by mental health professionals, participants will develop and practice skills and tangible tools to manage stress, increase efficacy, and enhance social connection. In community with other colleagues, we will explore common stressors and barriers to wellbeing. Empowered with simple strategies to increase self-awareness and support others, participants will learn how to cope with stress, re-imagine self-care, and utilize proactive peer support skills.
Topics will include occupational stress injury, the biology of stress, 5 evidence-based themes of psychosocial resilience, role management, defining resilience from a collective and inclusive lens, and detecting and responding to signs of mental health distress, burnout, or stress in others.
What to Expect
This is a discussion based workshop, and we invite you to participate actively! You are welcome to bring your beverages, snacks, a notebook, or whatever you need to participate with your camera on for the duration of our time together. Breaks will be provided.
This training will last 4 hours, and will include didactic presentations, reflection and brainstorming exercises, and practicing skills with others. You will also receive a Toolkit to download that is meant to accompany this training.
Participant Awards
You will receive a Certificate of Completion for this training. Two $25 Target gift cards will be raffled off at the end of each training for those who participate. This is one small way to share our gratitude for dedicating time to your wellbeing and the collective care of the healthcare workforce.
CC4C Research Opportunity
There is an option to participate in a research study of the program’s impact on healthcare worker wellbeing. You will learn more about this opportunity when you sign up for the training. This is not required to participate.
